When it comes to choosing the partner for myself, having emotional intelligence is so important to me.

I donโ€™t just want someone who knows how to love, I want someone who knows how to handle emotions, both mine and their own. Someone who doesnโ€™t run away when things get hard. Someone who knows that silence, attitude, ignoring feelings isnโ€™t the way to deal with love. I want someone who can talk through things gently, not shout or blame. Someone who doesnโ€™t make me feel small for feeling deeply. Someone who understands that emotional safety is just as important as physical comfort. I need someone who knows how to pause before reacting, who listens more than they speak, who makes me feel seen even in moments of misunderstanding.

Because love isnโ€™t just about flowers, dates, or promises. Itโ€™s about how someone holds space for you when youโ€™re not okay. How they support you when youโ€™re overwhelmed. How they respond when you're vulnerable. How they understand your point of view. I want someone who can sit beside me in silence and still make me feel heard. Someone who knows how to apologize and grow, not just win arguments. Iโ€™ve learned that the right relationship isn't built on constant highs, it's built on how well two people navigate the lows together.

So for me, emotional intelligence isnโ€™t a bonus. Itโ€™s a basic requirement. Because I donโ€™t want a love that just looks good from the outside, I want one that feels emotionally safe. ๐Ÿ’—
